Where the materials come from, and how we work them.
Alabaster
We source alabaster, marble and travertine from Turkey, the United States, Italy and Greece, choosing each block for its translucence and veining. Alabaster can live in a bathroom or powder room as long as it sits where water will not splash onto the stone.

Marble and travertine
Marble is finished between matte and honed, so the veining reads without glare. Travertine keeps its natural open pores; on the bookends it is filled for a smooth, solid surface. Veining and tone differ from block to block, which is the point of working in stone.

Brass
Our brass finish is created by hand through a multi-stage patination process, then sealed to preserve its depth, tone, and character over time. Finishes range from warm aged brass to darker, more architectural tones; if a project calls for a specific tone, write to studio@awayfromobject.com before ordering.
